Women Golfers in 11th on Day Two of Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The North Carolina women's golf team is in 11th place in The Landfall Tradition. The Tar Heels, lead by senior Jackie Chang who carded a 3-over 75, fired a 25-over 313 in the second round. Carolina finished with a 42-over 618 total score after day two.

Jackie Chang recorded a combined score 2-over 146 after a day one score of a 1-under 71 and a 3-over 75. From Scottsdale, Ariz., Chang is in 7th place.  Samantha Marks, a sophomore from Maitland, Fla., finished day two with a 6-over 78 and is tied for 30th place.  Marks scored a 3-over 75 in the first round to total a 9-over 153.  Not far behind sophomore Elizabeth Mallett, from Sutton Coldfield, England, is tied for 33rd place. Mallett recorded a 3-over 75 and a 7-over 79 for a 10-over-par 154 after day two.  From Cary, N.C., Katherine Perry shot a 21-over 165 total score to be in a tie for 82nd place.  Perry, a senior, carded a 12-over 84 on day one and a 9-over 81 on day two.  Junior Maia Schechter scored an 11-over 83 in the second round and a 16-over 88 in the first round.  Schechter, from Takoma Park, Md., is in 92nd place with a combined 27-over 171.

Alabama remained in the lead of the field of 18 teams at a 1-under par 575. Duke shot a 7-over 583 to be in second place. Clemson shot a 22-over 598 and South Carolina shot a 23-over 599 to be in third and fourth place, respectively. Not far behind in fifth place, Arizona recorded a 30-over 606. Wake Forest took sixth place with a 33-over 609.

After firing a hole-in-one on hole 13, Alabama's Stephanie Meadow led the field of 96 women golfers with a 3-uncder 141.  Duke's Yu Liu and Clemson's Ashlan Ramsey are tied for second at 1-under par. Tied for fourth, South Carolina's Katelyn Dambaugh and Alabama's Emma Talley have an even-par. Daniela Lendi form Alabama is in sixth after shooting a 1-over 145. Tied for seventh are North Carolina's Jackie Chang and Alabama's Hanna Collier at a 2-over-par 146.

The final round of the Landfall Tradition, a 54-hole event, will be Sunday at the Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course. The course features a par 72, 6,244-yard layout. Live scoring will be available on GoHeels.com.
