CARY, N.C. - North Carolina sophomore Brett Clark was defeated in the final round of the singles draw at the ITA Carolina Regional on Monday at Cary Tennis Park. The loss ended Clark's impressive run that included wins over three nationally ranked players, all of whom owned Top 5 seeds in the tournament.
East Carolina's 87-ranked and seventh-seeded Joran Vliegen narrowly claimed the singles crown with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over the 14th-seeded Clark.
The North Carolina team collectively tallied 18 singles wins and five doubles wins during the course of the tournament.
Next up for the Tar Heels is the Pensacola Futures, which kicks off on Oct. 25 in Pensacola, Fla.
