MADISON, Wis. - The University of North Carolina women's and No.13-ranked men's cross country teams will compete at the fifth-annual Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Saturday. The men's race begins at 11 a.m. CT (noon eastern) followed by the women's race at 12 p.m. CT (1 p.m. eastern).
In just four previous competitions, the Wisconsin Invitational has grown to be one of the collegiate season's top races as it shares competition days with the Pre-Nationals meet. The top ranked teams in the country typically compete at one or the other on the coinciding weekend.
For the first time ever, Flotrack.org will stream the event live to Flo Pro members. The men's 8K and the women's 6K races will take place at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course located adjacent to the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis. An open 'B' race will also take place following the championship team races.
The Tar Heel men are currently ranked No. 13 in the nation and are No. 1 in the Southeast Region. The Tar Heel men will face 19 additional nationally-ranked teams: No. 3 Northern Arizona, No. 5 BYU, No. 6 Arkansas, No. 7 Portland, No. 8 Columbia, No. 11 Syracuse, No. 12 Indiana, No. 14 Texas, No. 16 Eastern Kentucky, No. 17 Providence, No. 20 Wisconsin, No. 21 UCLA, No. 22 Minnesota, No. 24 Georgetown, No. 25 New Mexico, No. 26 Florida, No. 27 Dartmouth, No. 28 Notre Dame, and No. 30 Arizona State. In addition to Syracuse, Carolina will face conference rivals NC State and Notre Dame at Wisconsin before taking the teams on at the ACC Championships November 1st.
The Carolina women will face 17 nationally-ranked teams: No. 1 Providence, No. 3 Arizona, No. 4 Washington, No. 7 New Mexico, No. 8 Arkansas, No. 9 Michigan State, No. 10 San Francisco, No. 13 Dartmouth, No. 15 Cornell, No. 17 Duke, No. 22 Minnesota, No. 24 Boston College, No. 25 Vanderbilt, No. 26 BYU, No. 28 Iowa State, No. 29 Texas, and No. 30 Notre Dame. The Tar Heel women will also face ACC foes NC State, Notre Dame, and Syracuse at the meet.
