Carolina To Host USTA/ITA Carolina Regional

CHAPEL HILL - North Carolina will host the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships this week, welcoming the top women's tennis players from the states of North Carolina and South Carolina to the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

The tournament begins on Thursday with qualifying singles and main draw doubles, and continues to the conclusion of the event on Monday with the finals of singles play and both semifinal and finals in doubles.

Carolina will have five singles players and two doubles teams competing this week. Seniors Tessa Lyons and Laura Slater along with sophomores Ashley Dai and Kate Vaille, and freshman Hayley Carter will compete in the singles draw.

In doubles, freshmen Jamie Loeb and Carter are the No. 2 seed, while Dai and Lyons are the fourth-seed in the draw.

Qualifying singles rounds (9:00 a.m.)
Main Draw doubles round of 64 (teams having a bye will not play Thursday)

Doubles round of 32 (8:30 a.m.)
Followed by Main Draw Singles Round of 64

Doubles round of 16 (8:30 a.m.)
Followed by singles rounds of 32/16

Doubles quarterfinals (9 a.m.)
Followed by singles quarterfinals and semifinals

Doubles semifinals and finals (Order TBD according to players involved)

Parents and fans should park ONLY in the 54 Park and Ride Lot on Thursday and Friday before 5 p.m. Signs will be posted, but they should use the Hwy 54 P&R Lot  which is the last lot on the left before Friday Center Dr. dead ends.
