Kay/Price Knock Out 2nd-Seeded Doubles Team At ITAs

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - The North Carolina women's tennis team continued its successful trip out west on Thursday at the 2013 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.

The Tar Heels showed some doubles prowess on Thursday, as Caroline Price and Whitney Kay teamed up to upend the second-seeded team of Emina Bektas and Brooke Bolender (Michigan), the No. 3 team in the nation, 8-1.

The Carolina duo also took care of Georgia Tech's Woodard and Kurey in the first round, 8-6. Price and Kay will take on sixth-seeded William & Mary on Friday morning in the quarterfinals.
The Tar Heel freshmen continued to make noise in singles play. Jamie Loeb and Hayley Carter both made it all the way from pre-qualifying to garner spots in the main draw, and both Loeb and Carter registered wins on Thursday.

Loeb knocked out fellow qualifier Chanelle Van Nguyen (UCLA), 7-5, 6-0, while Carter took it to Aleksandra Josifoska of UNLV, dropping only three games for a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Price bowed out of her singles match with Maho Kowase of Georgia due to injury.

Loeb takes on third-seeded Zsofi Susanyi of Cal, while Carter faces No. 2 seed Lauren Herring of Georgia in the Round of 16 on Friday.
