GREENSBORO, N.C. – The North Carolina volleyball program, which is off to a program-best 13-0 start, swept this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball honors, as outside hitter Jovana Bjelica and setter Abigail Curry earned Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
In wins against NC State and Notre Dame, Bjelica averaged 4.00 kills per set, 1.83 digs per set and 0.83 service aces per set. In addition, the Belgrade, Serbia, native maintained a .333 hitting percentage, including a .448 mark in a sweep of Notre Dame. Against the Fighting Irish, Bjelica had 16 kills, five digs and four service aces.
Against the two league foes, Curry averaged 5.33 assists per set and 1.17 digs per set. In the Tar Heels’ sweep of the Fighting Irish, Curry made her mark by posting 19 assists, five digs and two service aces. For the weekend, the native of Plano, Texas, tallied a total of 32 assists.
