Gallen Leads Tar Heels In Exhibition Win

CHAPEL HILL --- Freshman righty Zac Gallen allowed just one unearned run in five innings of work as North Carolina defeated the Ontario Blue Jays in an exhibition contest Monday at Boshamer Stadium. Michael Russell had three hits, including a two-run double in a six-run first, to lead the Tar Heel offense.

Gallen scattered five hits and struck out four over his five innings of work, while Taylore Cherry tossed a pair of scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Adam Pate, Landon Lassiter, Korey Dunbar, Parks Jordan, Adrian Chacon and Tom Zengel joined Russell with multi-hit days for Carolina, which will begin its annual Fall World Series this Friday, Oct. 4, at 6 p.m.

Josh Naylor had four hits to lead the Blue Jays, an 18-and-under team from Toronto that competes in the Premier Baseball League of Ontario.
