Men's XC Ranked No. 1 In Southeast Region
Release: 09/30/2013
NEW ORLEANS – The first big weekend in Division I cross country has come and gone, leaving in its wake some major shake-ups in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Regional Rankings released Monday.

A quartet of national top-11 men's teams were dethroned from their regional favorite status, including in the Southeast Region where the Tar Heel men now rank No. 1. The national rankings are released on Tuesday afternoon.

The Carolina men beat out regionally ranked foes Eastern Kentucky and Virginia on Saturday at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational, winning the contest with a team-low 58 points. John Raneri led the Tar Heels with his fourth-place finish. The Colonels and the Cavaliers were nationally ranked No. 11 and No. 16, respectively.
