Release: 09/25/2013

By: Joe Bray:

Chapel Hill --- Tuesday's scrimmage was a see-saw affair that saw Blue take an early 3-0 lead before Navy had a pair of three-run innings to take a 6-3 lead. Blue then scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and final inning to end in a 6-6 tie.

Blue jumped off to a 3-0 lead in the first on Michael Russell's two-run single and Joe Dudek's RBI ground out. Navy then tied the score on Tom Zengel's three-run homer to right in the third.

Navy scored three more in the fifth. Colby Barnette's single up the middle put Navy up 4-3 before some sloppy fielding allowed two more runs to score.

Blue tied the game in the bottom of the sixth. With Navy up 6-4 with two outs and the bases loaded, a grounder to the middle infield was misplayed, allowing two runs to score.

Four pitchers threw: A.J. Bogucki, Chris O'Brien, Zach Rice and Jack Geraghty.

Carolina will scrimmage again on Thursday and Friday.

NOTE: Monday's game against the Ontario Blue Jays has been moved to 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.
