The Navy squad broke a 5-5 tie by scoring a run on a balk in the top of the seventh to take a 6-5 win in a seven-inning scrimmage on Monday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.
Navy scored first in the top of the first on Skye Bolt's sacrifice fly, then Blue tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the first on Joe Dudek's RBI single to right.
Navy jumped back ahead in the second on Alex Raburn's sacrifice fly to center, then took a 4-1 lead in the third on Colby Barnette's two-run single. Matt Rubino drove in a run with a single to right in the fourth for a 5-1 Navy lead before Blue battled back to tie the score.
Blue scored three runs in the fifth to pull within 5-4. Key plays were Adam Pate scoring on a wild pitch, a Korey Dunbar RBI single and Tyler Ramirez's safety squeeze bunt.
Blue then tied things up at 5-5 in the sixth on Michael Russell's RBI single to left before Navy scored the winning run in the top of the seventh.
Four pitchers saw action on Monday: Reilly Hovis, Zac Gallen, Chris Oakley and Andrew Smith.
Carolina's next closed scrimmage will be on Tuesday.
