By: Joe Bray

Chapel Hill --- After being rained out on Friday, the Tar Heels held a nine-inning scrimmage on Saturday at Boshamer Stadium with the Navy squad taking a 3-2 win.

Blue got on the board first in the second inning when Brandon Whiteford's infield single to deep short drove in Michael Massardo, who had drawn a lead-off walk. Navy then tied the score at 1-1 in the third when Joe Dudek singled to right to drive in Zach Daly.

Navy added a pair of unearned runs to take a 3-1 lead after seven. Korey Dunbar singled to right in the bottom of the eight to plate Brandon Whiteford to pull Blue within 3-2. Skye Bolt doubled in the bottom of the ninth and eventually reached third with two outs, but he was left stranded as Navy held on for the win.

Carolina's next closed scrimmage will be on Monday afternoon at the Bosh.
