CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – A record 329 Tar Heels were named to the 2012-13 ACC Academic Honor Roll as announced Tuesday by conference commissioner John Swofford, with 40 of the honorees representing the Carolina track and field and cross country programs.
The ACC Academic Honor Roll, now in its 57th year, is comprised of conference student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.00 or better for the full academic year. A record 2,909 student-athletes were honored during the 2012-13 academic year.
UNC's previous high for student-athletes honored was 294 in 2004-05. The Tar Heel total was 290 in 2011-12.
