GREENSBORO, N.C. --- North Carolina was picked to finish third in the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division in a poll of media members, the league announced Monday at the annual ACC Football Kickoff at the Grandover Resort. Clemson was the overwhelming favorite to win the league, as the Tigers received 95 of 120 votes to triumph in the ACC Championship game.

Carolina came in behind Coastal favorite Miami and Virginia Tech in the divisional voting. Miami received 65 first-place votes to outpace the Hokies (27) and the Tar Heels (22). Georgia Tech, Pitt, Virginia and Duke rounded out the poll.

In the Atlantic Division, Clemson took 102 first-place votes while Florida State grabbed the other 18. NC State, Wake Forest, Maryland, Syracuse and Boston College were selected behind the two favorites.

In the preseason Player of the Year voting, Tar Heel senior quarterback Bryn Renner received a pair of votes to finish fifth. Clemson's Tajh Boyd grabbed 105 votes after winning ACC Player of the Year honors in 2012 when he narrowly edged UNC's Giovani Bernard for the award.
