WIMBLEDON, ENGLAND - University of North Carolina alumnus Nick Monroe fell in the second round of gentlemen's doubles competition Saturday at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships.
Monroe and Simon Stadler of Germany won the opening set of Saturday's match against the No. 8 seeded team of Mahesh Bhupathi of India and Julian Knowle of Austria, winning the set 6-3. The next three sets went to the higher seeded team as they swept them 6-4, 6-4 and 6-2 to clinch the victory.
Monroe and Stadler had advanced to the second round with a terrific come-from-behind win in the first round last Monday. Monroe, who graduated from Carolina in 2004, is currently ranked 71st in the world and Stadler is ranked 72nd.
