CHAPEL HILL - Inside Lacrosse has named the North Carolina women's lacrosse squad as its 2013 Team of the Year, the magazine announced on Tuesday. The award is part of the annual Dani Awards, honoring the best in the nation in collegiate women's lacrosse.
Writing about the Tar Heels, IL's Danielle Bernstein writes, "I think it would have been tough to give this to anyone else ... North Carolina dismantled Northwestern in the semifinals and played a game for the ages against Maryland in the championship, coming out on top 13-12 in triple overtime, the longest game in championship history."
Bernstein concludes her story by writing, "What's scary is that outside of Kara Cannizzaro, Carolina returns almost every major contributor from this season and brings in an amazing class of freshmen. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Tar Heels repeat in 2014."
