Hess-Olesen Falls In NCAA First Round

URBANA, ILL. - University of North Carolina sophomore men's tennis player Esben Hess-Olesen dropped his Round of 64 match Wednesday at the 2013 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship being hosted by the University of Illinois.

The Viby, Denmark native, who played at #1 singles all year for Coach Sam Paul's team, lost his match to 20th-ranked Jonas Lutjen of the University of Mississippi by a 7-6 (7), 6-3 score.

Coach Sam Paul's Tar Heels now look forward to next season when the team returns 10 of this year's 12 letter winners while also adding four players in one of the nation's top-ranked recruiting classes.

UNC loses a pair of outstanding seniors off the 2013 team in William Parker and Taylor Meyer.

Returning singles starters for UNC will include Hess-Olesen, freshman Brett Clark, junior Nelson Vick and sophomore Oystein Steiro.
