Release: 05/10/2013
CHAPEL HILL -- North Carolina is a top-five seed in the NCAA Tournament once again this spring, and the third-seeded Tar Heels will open tournament play on Sunday as they try to win their first NCAA title.  Carolina is in the tournament for the ninth year in a row and the 15th year overall.

UNC will host a first-round game between High Point (10-8) and Loyola (10-8) on Friday at 5 p.m. in Chapel Hill.  The winner of that game will advance to play Carolina in the second round on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Fetzer Field.

Sunday's game will be streamed live online by GoHeels TV.

Tickets for each game are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.  Visit the GoHeels.com Ticket Center to purchase advance tickets.

UNC is making its 15th NCAA Tournament appearance in 18 years as a varsity program and its ninth in a row. The Tar Heels are 17-14 in NCAA Tournament games and have made six semifinal appearances (1997, 1998, 2002, 2009, 2010, 2011), including three in the last four years. In 2009, UNC reached the NCAA championship game for the first time in school history.

UNC is 10-1 in the NCAA Tournament first round and has won its last 10 first-round games in a row.  Carolina's only loss in the NCAA Tournament first round came in 1999 to Georgetown.

Carolina is 13-1 at home in NCAA Tournament games, losing only in 2000 to Loyola.  UNC has won its last 12 home NCAA Tournament games in a row.
