CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina offensive guard Travis Bond was selected by the Minnesota Vikings Saturday with the eighth pick of the seventh round (214th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. Bond was the third Tar Heel offensive lineman chosen in this year's draft, joining first round selection Jonathan Cooper and third-rounder Brennan Williams as the most from UNC in the common draft since 1967.
Bond was an honorable mention All-ACC selection as a senior in 2012. The Windsor, N.C., product graded out at 88 percent or higher in four games and helped pave the way for a record-setting Tar Heel offense that featured the league's leading rusher in Giovani Bernard.
Carolina finishes with five draft picks in 2013, its highest total since the Tar Heels had nine selected in 2011.
