WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 59 North Carolina men's tennis team (10-12, 3-6 ACC) took down No. 25 Wake Forest (17-7, 6-3 ACC) by a score of 5-2 in an ACC contest on Friday at Leighton Courts.

Carolina's recent resurgence in doubles play resumed against the Demon Deacons, with the Tar Heels taking the doubles point for the fourth time in the last five matches.

The duo of Oystein Steiro and James Coxe notched Carolina's first doubles victory with an 8-6 victory over Wake Forest's Sam Bloom and Jon Ho. The Tar Heels proceeded to clinch the point on court two, where the 81st-ranked pairing of Brett Clark and Esben Hess-Olesen cruised past Danny Kreyman and Adam Lee, 8-3. The match at the No. 1 spot was halted as a result, with Carolina's 90th-ranked pairing of Nelson Vick and William Parker leading No. 39 David Hopkins and Amogh Prabhakar by a score of 7-5.

The Tar Heels maintained their strong play in the singles matches.

Oystein Steiro got on the board first for Carolina by tallying a 6-3, 7-6 victory at No. 5. Freshman Brett Clark added a win soon after, beating Danny Kreyman by a score of 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 2 seed.

Wake Forest got their first point from No. 110 Adam Lee, who snuck by senior William Parker in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 4.

Nelson Vick countered for Carolina at No. 3 with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 win over No. 74 Amogh Prabhakar to put the Tar Heels up 4-1, securing the overall victory.

David Hopkins proceeded to capture Wake Forest's final point of the day at No. 1 singles, claiming a three-set victory against No. 44 Esben Hess-Olesen. To conclude the day, Carolina's Stuart DePaolo edged Sam Bloom 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 in another three-setter.

The match began outdoors, but was moved to indoor courts around 3:20 p.m. due to rain.

The Tar Heels will play their regular season finale on Sunday when they host Boston College at noon at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The match will also be Senior Day for the Heels, and seniors William Parker and Taylor Meyer will be honored prior to the match.
