Release: 04/17/2013

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Haleigh Dickey hit a two-run homer and tallied five RBIs on the day to lift No. 25 UNC over ECU, 8-0 on Wednesday.

Erin Satterfield added a three-run homer, and Lori Spingola fanned seven in four innings in the circle to help lead Carolina, now 34-15 for the season.

Aquilla Mateen started things off in the first with a single, advancing to third on an ECU throwing error before scoring on a sacrifice fly to right by Haleigh Dickey.

Carolina tacked on two more runs in the third, as Kristen Brown led off with a single to center before Dickey hit her 10th homerun of the season out left.

Amy Nece singled to right center and stole second to get things rolling in the fourth. Kati Causey drew a walk, and after a pitching change by ECU, Erin Satterfield homered on the first pitch to center to score three. Brown then singled to left, followed by a single to short by Mateen before both Tar Heels scored on a hard single to center by Dickey.

Spingola gave up just one hit and one walk in addition to seven strikeouts in four innings. Ashley Bone came in for the final inning, striking out one without giving up a hit.

The Tar Heels will host their final home ACC series this coming weekend against Georgia Tech with a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 and 3pm, and on Monday at 7 pm. Senior Day festivities recognizing Carolina's six graduating seniors will begin at 12:45 on Sunday, and Monday's game will be shown live on ESPNU.
