UNC Returns Home To Face Maryland

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- No. 1 North Carolina will return to Boshamer Stadium for a three-game ACC series beginning Friday night against the Maryland Terrapins.

The Tar Heels are coming off a 10-0 win at UNC Wilmington on Wednesday and have won 10 of their last 11 games, while Maryland has won two of its last three games.

The Tar Heels have won all four of their ACC series entering the weekend and own an ACC Coastal-best 9-2 ACC record. The Terps currently sit in a tie for fourth place in the Atlantic Division with a 4-8 league mark.

Junior left-hander Kent Emanuel (5-1, 1.16 ERA), who was recently named a Midseason All-America by Baseball America will take the mound Friday night at 7 p.m. for the Tar Heels against Maryland's left-hander Jimmy Reed (4-2, 1.81 ERA).

Saturday will see sophomore right-hander Benton Moss (6-0, 1.73 ERA) take the bump for Carolina and he will face Maryland right-hander Brady Kirkpatrick (3-3, 3.07 ERA) in the 6 p.m. contest.

In Sunday's finale at 1 p.m., left-hander Hobbs Johnson (0-0, 3.46 ERA) will get the start for Carolina, while Maryland has not named a starter.

Following the Saturday night contest fans will be treated to another rendition of Saturday Night Fireworks at Boshamer Stadium.

The third edition of the Carolina Baseball Trading Card Set will be available to fans who attend the Friday contest and kids will have the chance to take the field with the Tar Heels on Saturday and run the bases after Sunday's game.

One of the newest additions to Boshamer Stadium will be back again this weekend as the third base concession area will feature a $10 tailgate special. This weekend's menu includes a fried soft-shell crab sandwich, sweet potato fries and a drink.
