NEW YORK --- North Carolina senior guard Tierra Ruffin-Pratt was given honorable mention on the Associated Press All-America team, the AP announced Tuesday. Ruffin-Pratt, who was a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer in 2012-13, led the Tar Heels to a 29-7 record, a second-place finish in the ACC and the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Bridgeport Region.
A native of Alexandria, Va., Ruffin-Pratt had her finest season in Chapel Hill as a senior. Despite playing point guard for the first time in her career, Ruffin-Pratt thrived with the ball in her hands. She led UNC in scoring, assists and steals and averaged 15.5 points per game, more than doubling her previous career mark.
Ruffin-Pratt produced some of the most memorable moments of recent Carolina history as a senior. Her consecutive steals at the end of the game helped UNC knock off No. 15 Ohio State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and her career-high 30 points led the Tar Heels past America East champion Albany in the first round of the NCAA tournament. In addition to her All-ACC honors, she was named MVP of the Preseason WNIT after guiding Carolina to wins over Davidson, Duquesne, Georgetown and Iowa.
