No. 1 Carolina Hosts Baylor Sunday

CHAPEL HILL --- No. 1 North Carolina plays its final non-conference home match of 2013 Sunday when the Tar Heels host No. 29 Baylor at 1 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Carolina is 12-1 after sweeping Winthrop and East Carolina in a doubleheader last Saturday, while Baylor is 4-9 after a 4-3 road loss to Clemson Friday.

UNC has defeated seven ranked opponents so far this spring, including the other three teams in the top four of the most recent ITA national poll. Gina Suarez-Malaguti leads seven Tar Heels in the national singles poll, as the Pembroke Pines, Fla., senior is ranked a career-best No. 4 in country.

Five Carolina singles players are undefeated in dual match play, with No. 25 Caroline Price leading the way with an 11-0 mark. No. 19 Whitney Kay (8-0), No. 101 Ashley Dai (7-0), Kate Vialle (4-0) and Laura Slater (3-0) are also perfect this spring.

Baylor is led by No. 12 Ema Burgic. She is joined in the singles rankings by No. 113 Megan Horter, while Burgic and Victoria Kisialeva come in at No. 23 in the doubles poll.
