The defending NCAA champion women's soccer team will play on five spring dates and will meet a pair of teams competing in 2013 in the first year of the National Women's Soccer League.
The Tar Heels will open the spring season against Elon on Thursday, March 7 with a 7:30 p.m. start time in Elon College, N.C.
UNC will not play for another 17 days while including time off for spring break before meeting the University of Florida Gators at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 24. That match will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
The next two matches will line up against two units in the new NWSL. Carolina takes on the Washington Spirit on Saturday, March 30 at 3 p.m. at the Soccerplex in Germantown, Md. Amongst the Washington players are a pair of former Tar Heels – goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris and defender Robyn Gayle
The following weekend, UNC will take on the Western New York Flash at Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester, N.Y. on Sunday, April 7 at 12 noon. The Flash is led by U.S. National Team star Abby Wambach.
Carolina will close out the spring exhibition season on April 13 with matches against Duke at 11 a.m. and against Virginia Tech at 2 p.m. Both of those matches will be played in Clemmons, N.C.
