GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Atlantic Coast Conference head coaches picked North Carolina to repeat as the ACC Coastal Champion it was announced Friday by the league office.
The Tar Heels received 69 points in the Coastal Division poll and outdistanced second place Georgia Tech by 14 points. Following Georgia Tech was Virginia (50), Miami (39), Virginia Tech (27) and Duke (12).
NC State was tabbed the top team in the Atlantic Division as well as the ACC favorite. The Wolfpack also received 69 points surpassing Florida State (60), Clemson (50), Wake Forest (34), Maryland (22) and Boston College (17).
Carolina finished second in the overall champion poll, two votes shy of NC State's total of six and three ahead of Florida State and Virginia who each received one vote apiece.
The Tar Heels claimed the ACC Coastal Division title a year ago for the fourth time since 2006. Carolina swept its final three series of the conference season to finish with a 22-8 ACC mark.
