UNC Opens ACC Action Against Top 25 Foes

Fresh off a weekend dual sweep, the North Carolina wrestling squad returns to Carmichael Arena this weekend to open ACC dual season against Virginia and Virginia Tech.

The Tar Heels will open the 2013 ACC season on Friday at 7 p.m. against Virginia after claiming dual wins over Michigan State, Clarion and Drexel last weekend to improve to 4-2 in duals.

The Cavaliers enter with a 9-3 dual record on the year and a 0-1 mark in ACC action. Virginia is ranked as high as No. 11 in the national polls this week and have six wrestlers ranked among the top 20 in the country according to InterMat.

Saturday will see another ranked opponent in Carmichael as Virginia Tech is ranked as high as No. 9 in the national rankings. The Hokies are coming off a Virginia Duals title as they beat Virginia in the final. Virginia Tech boasts five wrestlers ranked among the top 20 in the nation according to InterMat.

Sophomore 141-pounder Evan Henderson is the highest-ranked Tar Heel this week as he checks in at No. 7 after a 2-1 weekend. Freshmen Nathan Kraisser and Joey Ward are also among the top 20 in the country as Kraisser is No. 13 at 125 pounds and Ward is No. 18 at 133.

Friday night's dual will be shown live on ESPN3 and fans will have a chance to win a pair of tickets to the men's basketball game against Georgia Tech. Fans can also take home the 2013 UNC Wrestling poster.

Saturday's dual against Virginia Tech will be a White Out as the first 50 fans will receive a White Ram Tough shirt. The dual will be streamed live on
