Face-Off Yearbook announced its 2013 preseason All-America Team on Wednesday and four members of the University of North Carolina team, including three who earned postseason 2012 honors, made it on to the squad.
Senior attackman Marcus Holman was named first-team All-America, junior midfielder R.G Keenan was tapped for second-team All-America and sophomore attackmen Joey Sankey and Jimmy Bitter were tabbed for honorable mention All-America.
Marcus was a second-team All-America choice in the postseason last year despite having what was clearly a first team quality season. He led UNC with 74 points on 39 goals and 35 assists. He shot 41.5 percent on the year. Only four of his goals were man-up tallies as he scored most of this 39 markers in the run of play.
Keenan was a first-team All-America last year. One of the nation's premier face-off men, he won 205 of 340 attempts last year for a sterling percentage of 60.3. He led the Tar Heels in ground balls with 102 while also scoring three goals and adding two assists.
Bitter was an honorable mention All-America last year. He was Carolina's third-leading scorer after solidifying his starting spot at mid-season. He had 27 goals (second on the team) to go with 14 assists for 41 points. He scored on 32.9 percent of his shots. Sankey started 15 games as a freshman and was UNC's second-leading overall scorer with 44 points. His goal and assist totals were mirror images at 22 apiece. He was second on the team in assists behind only Holman.
