McDaniel Earns Second ACC Rookie Honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- North Carolina freshman forward Xylina McDaniel has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by league officials and voted on by the Blue Ribbon Panel.

McDaniel averaged a double-double with 15 points and 10.5 rebounds in games against No. 15 Ohio State and No. 16 Tennessee. The native of Columbia, S.C., scored 11 points, including six in the final 3:17, and grabbed eight rebounds in a 57-54 win over Ohio State on Wednesday. McDaniel followed that up with a season-high 19 points, 13 rebounds and a season-best six steals for her third double-double of the season in the loss at Tennessee on Sunday.

It is McDaniel's second ACC Rookie of the Week honor of the season. She was last named ACC Rookie of the Week on November 12.

McDaniel and the Tar Heels are back in action Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Radford.
