CHAPEL HILL - The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team is ranked No. 4 in the 2013 Inside Lacrosse Faceoff Yearbook preseason poll, the magazine announced this week.
Syracuse, which ended Carolina's 2012 season in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals, tops the poll, followed by Florida, Northwestern, UNC and Maryland in the top five. The rest of the top 10 is No. 6 Duke, No. 7 Loyola, No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 9 Penn State and No. 10 Penn.
Atlantic Coast Conference squads Virginia (No. 10) and Boston College (No. 19) also grabbed spots in the top 20.
Carolina will face nine teams in the IL preseason poll during the 2013 season, including No. 2 Florida, No. 3 Northwestern, No. 5 Maryland, No. 6 Duke, No. 10 Penn, No. 12 Virginia, No. 13 Georgetown, No. 17 Towson and No. 19 BC.
