CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina softball team recently spent a day volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in Chapel Hill.

Some Tar Heels helped with putting up the wood wall frames inside the house, and others helped in putting up the outside insulation for the house.

"While putting up the sheets of insulation, we had to make sure we were using the correct nails and using enough nails in to pass inspection," said Ally Blake, who played for Carolina from 2009-12 and is now a student assistant coach. "We also had to make sure the wood frame that we were covering and the insulation would not line up because then there would be a small crease that could possibly let in cold air. Luckily, we had several professionals who volunteered to make sure we were doing the job correctly."

"It was very hard work but it was also very rewarding," Blake said.
