DALLAS, TEX. - The North Carolina men's golf team stands in ninth place with a 4-over-par 572 total going into the final round of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate.  The Tar Heels fired an even par 284 in the second round after shooting a 4-over 288 in the morning round.  Carolina was led by Brandon Dalinka who is tied for 13th place in the individual race.

Sophomore Dalinka fired a 2-under-par 69 in the second round after carding a 1-over 72 in the first round.  His 69 included an eagle-3 on the par-5 18th hole (his 14th hole), three birdies and three bogeys.  Dalinka, from Newtown, Pa., has a 1-under 141 total which puts him in a tie for 13th.  Senior Patrick Barrett is tied for 27th place with a 1-over 143 total.  The Pinehurst, N.C. native fired a 2-under 69 in the first round followed by a 3-over 74 in the afternoon round.  Seniors Michael McGowan and Clark Palmer and sophomore Bailey Patrick all carded 4-over 146 totals and are deadlocked in 47th place.  McGowan, from Southern Pines, N.C. fired rounds of 76-70 while Palmer, from Augusta, Ga., shot 75-71 and Patrick, from Charlotte, N.C., posted rounds of 72-74.

Texas Tech grabbed the lead over the 14-team field as the Red Raiders fired rounds of 4-over 288 and 15-under 269 for an 11-under 557 total.  Oklahoma State is two strokes back in second place at 9-under 559 while Iowa is third at 8-under 560.  Texas A&M and SMU are tied for fourth place with 4-under 564 totals.

Maxine Blandin of SMU leads the individual at 9-under 133.  Blandin fired an 8-under 63 in the second round after shooting a 1-under 70 in the morning round.  Three players are two strokes back deadlocked in second place at 7-under 135 - Oklahoma State's Kevin Dougherty and Ian Davis and Iowa's Ian Vandersee.  Finley Ewing IV of Texas Tech is alone in fifth place at 6-under 136.  He fired the low score of the first two rounds, a blistering 10-under 61.  Cameron Peck of Texas A&M and Clement Sordet of Texas Tech are tied for sixth place at 5-under 137.
