CHAPEL HILL - With so many Tar Heel teams succeeding on so many fields of play, it can be a challenge to keep up with the latest news on all the Carolina varsity squads.  The GoHeels.com Weekly Primer is your resource to look back at last week and ahead to what's next for Carolina athletics.


Baseball: The Tar Heels released their 2013 schedule on Thursday.

Men's Basketball: James Michael McAdoo, Reggie Bullock and Roy Williams represented UNC at ACC Operation Basketball (the conference's annual media day) in Charlotte on Wednesday, and the assembled media picked Carolina to finish third in 2012-13 ...Check out this behind-the-scenes video with Bullock & McAdoo ... Here's a photo album from media day ... The ACC's coaches also predicted a third-place finish for the Tar Heels this season ... Reggie Bullock is ready for a new role in 2012-13 ... Adam Lucas profiled point guard Luke Davis, now eligible to play after sitting out last season as a transfer ... Sophomore shooter P.J. Hairston is confident entering this season ... UP NEXT:  Carolina unofficially will open the 2012-13 season on Friday with its exhibition game against Shaw ... Buy tickets for the Shaw game now.

Women's Basketball: The ACC coaches picked the Tar Heels to finish fourth in the conference in 2012-13 ... Here's a photo gallery from ACC media day ... Former Tar Heel star Erlana Larkins helped lead her pro team, the Indiana Fever, to the WNBA championship ... UP NEXT:  The Tar Heels will host Carson-Newman in an exhibtion game on Sunday.

Cross Country/Track: Meet new assistant cross country and track distance coach Angela Reckart ... UP NEXT:  The Tar Heels will go to the ACC Championships in Blacksburg, Va., on Saturday.

Field Hockey: On Saturday, the top-ranked Tar Heels traveled to Maryland and beat the Terrapins in overtime to capture the regular season ACC championship ... The Tar Heels are 16-1 overall and 5-0 in the ACC this season ... Earlier in the week, Caitlin Van Sickle was named ACC Player of the Week ... UP NEXT:  Carolina will play at Old Dominion on Friday and will host Radford on Sunday.

Football:  The Tar Heels dropped a 33-30 thriller at Duke on Saturday night ... Read Turner's Take on the loss ... Here's Lee Pace's Extra Points with analysis of the game ... The Rams Club announced on Thursday that the Blue Zone Concourse Club at Kenan Stadium is now sold out ... Jonathan Cooper led 12 Tar Heels who were named midseason All-ACC ... UP NEXT:  Carolina will host NC State at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday (TV coverage on the ACC Network).

Men's Golf:  The Tar Heels made the short drive to Raleigh for the Wolfpack Invitational over the weekend and captured the championship on Saturday ... UP NEXT:  Carolina will play in the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate in Dallas, Texas, on Oct. 29-30.

Men's Lacrosse:  For the first time in 22 years, the team elected a single player as team captain - senior Marcus Holman.

Men's Soccer: The Tar Heels, ranked No. 2 in the nation, journeyed north to play at No. 1 Maryland on Friday, and dropped a heartbreaking overtime decision, 1-0 ... UP NEXT: UNC will host Campbell on Tuesday night at Fetzer Field.

Women's Soccer:  The Tar Heels picked up a 2-0 win at sixth-ranked Duke on Thursday night ... Carolina then lost 2-1 to Wake Forest on Sunday ... Senior midfielder Amber Brooks is a finalist for the prestigious Lowe's Senior CLASS Award ... UP NEXT: Carolina will visit NC State in the regular season finale on Thursday.

Swimming & Diving:  The women's swimming & diving team hit the road to Texas for the SMU Swim Classic over the weekend and finished second ... UP NEXT:  The Tar Heels will host Virginia Tech and the NCAC Mile Meet.

Men's Tennis: Junior Nelson Vick won the singles title at the Wake Forest Invite ... The team took part in the ITA Carolinas Regional in Cary ... UP NEXT: The "Big Jim" Russel Invitational in Chapel Hill, starting on Nov. 2.

Women's Tennis:  The Tar Heels took part in the 2012 USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships and Zoe De Bruycker advanced to Monday's regional final ... UP NEXT: The Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill on Nov. 9-11.

Volleyball: After two consecutive weekends on the road, Carolina hosted Maryland and Boston College ... The Tar Heels beat the Terrapins on Friday and swept the Eagles on Saturday ... The BC match was Turn It Pink Night ... UP NEXT:  the Tar Heels will play at Duke and at Wake Forest.

Wrestling: Head coach C.D. Mock welcomed new assistant coach Dennis Papadatos from Binghamton University.
