General -- Two-year returning starter and three-year letter winner who has excelled primarily at striker but also plays in the midfield...played a backup role at holding center midfielder to Maggie Tomecka as a freshman...started at forward her sophomore and junior years...coach Dorrance expects Guess to be a top All-America candidate this year and a challenger for national player of the year honors...says she is a natural goal scorer and phenomenal finisher...Dorrance believes the investment she makes in her game will determine her success as a senior...he says she has a talent level favorable to several of the Tar Heels' recent national team players...has six career goals in ACC Tournament play and four assists for 16 points...has six goals in NCAA Tournament action plus three assists for 15 points...12 of her 26 career goals have come in post-season action and 31 of her 74 career points.
National Team -- Was a pool player for the U.S. Under-21 National Team in 2005...selected for Under-14 regional camp and then made the U.S. Under-16 and Under-17 National Teams... also a member of the pool for the U.S. Under-19 National Team.
Club Soccer--Led her club team to the 2001 national championship and a third-place finish in 2003...her club team also won three state championships and two regional titles and was the regional finalist the other year...2001 NSCAA All-America selection...named to Georgia ODP State Team every year since 1998 and Region III ODP team every year since 1999.
2005 Season - Had a breakthrough year for the Tar Heels in 2005, starting for the second straight year at striker...played in 25 matches for the Tar Heels and had 12 goals and 12 assists for 36 points...also had a pair of game-winning goals for the Tar Heels...she ranked third on the UNC team in goals, third in assists and fourth in points...named to the All-ACC Tournament after helping lead the Tar Heels to the championship...it was her second straight year on the All-Tournament Team...was selected for the Soccer America Team of the Week October 31...opened the season with a goal and two assists in a 7-1 win over Tennessee...rocked San Francisco for a career high five points with two goals and an assist...had another five-point game at Miami with two goals and an assist...had the opening goal of the game in the regular season win over Virginia...finished the regular season with two goals and an assist at Wake Forest...assisted on two goals in the opening half of the Maryland match in the ACC quarterfinals...scored twice in the ACC final against Virginia...had a goal and two assists in the NCAA Tournament third round against Pepperdine.
2004 Season - Played in all 23 games and started 16...2004 All-ACC Tournament selection...was the team's fourth-leading scorer with 24 points on seven goals and eight assists...had two game-winning goals ...excelled for the Tar Heels in the postseason...assisted on Heather O'Reilly's game-winning goal against Maryland in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals...scored a pair of goals versus Duke in the ACC semifinals...had two goals in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament versus Campbell and two more tallies in the NCAA second round against William & Mary...also scored the game-winner versus Georgia.
2003 Season -- Named to the 2003 ACC All-Freshman Team...played in all 27 matches for the Tar Heels...scored seven goals and had two assists for 16 points...scored her first career goal against Nebraska...had the game-winning goal in the 92nd minute of a 1-0 victory over Texas A&M...had a pair of goals in the win over Guilford...also scored twice, including the game-winning goal, in UNC's victory over Duke in the ACC Tournament semifinals...scored a goal in the NCAA Tournament victory over UNC Greensboro.
Prep -- Graduated from Athens Academy on May 26, 2003...was a highly-recruited high school All-America...played soccer for three seasons, missing her junior season...2003 McDonald's All-America...2003 Parade All-America nominee...led the team in scoring and assists all three years and was first-team All-Northeast Georgia each year...also played four years of basketball as a point guard...named All-Northeast Georgia her freshman through senior years and All-Area as a senior...was the All-Northeast Georgia player of the Year as a senior...led her basketball team in scoring, assists, steals and free throw shooting three times...first-team All-State selection as a senior and honorable mention as a sophomore...participated in FCA, International Club and Spanish Club.
