2011 – Sophomore Season
Earned second-team All-ACC honors for his play at left tackle • Along with left guard Jonathan Cooper, part of the first Carolina offensive line tandem to earn All-ACC honors since 1993 • Started all 13 games • Saw action on 851 plays and graded out at 88 percent for the season, best on the team • Helped pave the way for Giovani Bernard to gain 1,253 rushing yards, the first time a Tar Heel back has rushed for over 1,000 yards since 1997 • Finished with 30 regular-season knockdown blocks on the year, good for third on the team • Played 88 snaps against Duke, grading out at 90 percent with a season-high eight knockdowns • Played all 84 snaps against Virginia Tech and graded out at a team-best 84 percent • Played all 60 snaps at NC State and graded out at 89 percent with two knockdowns • Graded out at a season-best 91 percent on 66 plays against Wake Forest • Played all 79 snaps against Miami and had four knockdowns and just two negative plays for a season-best grade of 97 percent • Graded out at 91 percent and played all 54 snaps against Louisville • Played all 61 snaps and graded out at 89 percent against East Carolina • Had three knockdowns and played all 53 snaps at Georgia Tech • Played all 66 snaps and graded out at 85 percent against Virginia • Had five knockdowns in 53 snaps against James Madison in the opener, grading out at 88 percent.

2010 – Freshman Season
Earned Freshman All-America honors by Rivals.com, Phil Steele and The Sporting News • Appeared in all 13 games and started the final 12 games of the regular season at left tackle • Saw action on 845 snaps during the season and graded out at a team-high 83 percent • Third on the team with 33 knock-down blocks • Played all 72 offensive plays in the win over Tennessee in the Music City Bowl • Played all 84 snaps at Duke and graded out at a team-high 89 percent with three knock-downs • Graded out at a team-high 85 percent with three knock-downs against NC State • Had a season-high six knock-downs and graded out at 86 percent against William & Mary • Graded out at 80 percent against both Clemson and East Carolina • Graded out at 83 percent with two knock-downs against Rutgers • Graded out at 81 percent against Rutgers • Graded out at 86 percent with two knock-downs against LSU • Enrolled at Carolina in January, 2010 and competed in spring practice.
