2011 – Junior Season
Ranked second on the team with 71 tackles, six tackles for losses and a sack • Also recovered a fumble, broke up four passes and had three quarterback hurries • Selected as the team’s permanent defensive captain just before the first game of the season • Recorded four tackles against Missouri in the Independence Bowl • Posted five tackles and broke up a pass in a 37-21 win over Duke • Made five stops and broke up a pass in a narrow loss at Virginia Tech • Recorded a season-high 12 tackles, including a 3-yard tackle for loss, in a loss at NC State • Had three tackles in a 49-24 win over Wake Forest • Returned to the starting lineup and had six tackles, assisted on a tackle for loss, and broke up a pass in a 59-38 loss to Clemson • Did not start, but came off the bench to post three tackles and one quarterback pressure in a 30-24 loss to Miami • Missed the Louisville game with an ankle sprain • Recorded six tackles, broke up a pass and recovered a fumble in a 35-20 victory at East Carolina • Had a season-high 10 tackles and 1.5 tackles for losses at Georgia Tech • Disrupted the Virginia offense with seven tackles, a half sack, 1.5 tackles for losses and quarterback pressure in a 28-17 victory • Posted six tackles and assisted on a tackle for loss in a 24-22 victory vs. Rutgers • Carolina limited the Scarlet Knights to just one yard rushing, the fewest by an opponent since 2000 • Had four tackles, all solo stops, and a 3-yard tackle for loss in Carolina’s 42-10 season-opening win over James Madison.

2010 – Sophomore Season
One of only two UNC defensive players to start all 13 games • Led the team with 74 tackles, including 48 primary stops and 26 assists • Also had six tackles for losses, one sack, two interceptions for 22 yards and five pass breakups • Scored his first career touchdown with a 22-yard interception return at Virginia • Second on the team in tackles vs. Tennessee in the Music City Bowl, registering eight stops, one tackle for loss and one pass breakup • Had eight tackles and a 9-yard sack in the win at Duke • Had one quarterback pressure vs. NC State • Posted eight tackles against Virginia Tech • Made five stops in the win at Florida State • Posted four tackles against William & Mary • Had four tackles and broke up a pass at Miami • Made nine tackles and intercepted a pass for a touchdown in Carolina’s first win at Virginia since 1981 • Had a season-high 10 tackles and broke up two passes in Carolina’s 21-16 win at Clemson •Made four stops, intercepted a pass and broke up a pass in the 42-17 win vs. ECU • Had four tackles at Rutgers • Posted seven tackles, including 1.5 tackles for losses, against Georgia Tech • Had three tackles vs. LSU in the Georgia Dome.

2009 – Freshman Season
Named to the All-ACC freshman team by The Sporting News • Started the last seven games of the season at middle linebacker • Received one vote for ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year • Finished the regular season with 45 tackles, 5.5 tackles for losses and one pass breakup • Had a season-high six tackles vs. Pittsburgh in the Meineke Car Care Bowl • Made five tackles, including a 3-yard tackle for loss, at NC State • Posted five tackles, including 1.5 for loss, in the 31-13 win at Boston College • Had four tackles and broke up a pass in a win over No. 12 Miami • Made two tackles, including one for a loss, in the 19-6 win over Duke • Was part of a defensive effort that limited the Blue Devils to just 125 total yards • Had five tackles in the win at Virginia Tech • Started at middle linebacker vs. Florida State and had five tackles, one tackle for loss and one quarterback hurry • Credited with one tackle vs. Georgia Southern • Had three tackles vs. Virginia • Posted three tackles and assisted on a tackle for loss at Georgia Tech • Had three tackles and assisted on a tackle for loss in the win over ECU • Posted two tackles in the 12-10 win at Connecticut • One of 11 true freshman to see action in the season opener vs. The Citadel • Had one tackle in the 40-6 win over The Citadel • Enrolled at Carolina in January, 2009 • Had mononucleosis and was not able to participate in spring practice.
