CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Four North Carolina players have been selected to represent the U.S. at the International Hockey Federation's World League Semi-Finals in London June 22-30. The 18-member team was announced on Saturday by U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach Craig Parnham.
Tar Heels who will play for the U.S. are Rachel Dawson, Katelyn Falgowski, Jackie Kintzer and Emily Wold. Wold is a rising sophomore at UNC and the other three are Carolina alums.
Twelve of the 18 players picked for the team are former Olympians, including Dawson and Falgowski. Kintzer was an alternate to the team in 2012.
The team departs for London on Saturday after training at Rutgers University this week. The U.S., ranked 10th, will compete in Pool A, along with No. 2 Argentina, No. 7 China and No. 17 Italy. Pool B is No. 4 England, No. 6 Australia, No. 11 South Africa and No. 15 Spain.
