Two Tar Heels Selected To All-ACC Squad
Release: 05/06/2013

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Two University of North Carolina women's golfers were selected to the 2013 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Golf team.  Junior Casey Grice is a two-time honoree having been named to the team last year while junior Jackie Chang was chosen to the prestigious squad for the first time in her career.

"I am very pleased that Casey and Jackie were named to the All-ACC team," says Tar Heel head coach Jan Mann.  "The ACC currently has some of the top players in the country so it was a tremendous honor for Casey, Jackie and our UNC women's golf program for the two of them to be included on the 12-person all-conference squad."

Grice, from College Station, Texas, has carded seven top-20 finishes in nine events this year.  Grice was the runner-up at the Liz Murphey Fall Preview as she led Carolina to the team title.  She tied for fifth at the UCF Challenge and the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate and tied for seventh at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational in her other top-10 finishes.  Grice tied for 12th at the ACC Championships, tied for 13th at the Mason Rudolph Championship and tied for 14th at the Cougar Classic.  She tied for 28th at the Bryan National Collegiate and tied for 38th at the SunTrust Gator Invitational.  Grice, also an All-ACC performer last year, leads the team with a 73.33 stroke average.  She has scored five under-par rounds, two in the 60s, and five even par rounds.  She scored her low round of the year in the second round of the UCF Challenge where she fired a 4-under-par 68.

Jackie Chang, from Scottsdale, Ariz., has carded seven top-30 finishes in nine events this year.  Her top performance came at the UCF Challenge where she tied for eighth place and helped lead Carolina to the team title.  She tied for ninth at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational and tied for 14th at both the Liz Murphey Fall Preview and the Cougar Classic.  Chang's other top-30 finishes came at the SunTrust Gator Invitational where she tied for 20th, the Mason Rudolph Championship where she tied for 23rd and the ACC Championships where she tied for 28th.  She tied for 32nd place at both the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate and the Bryan National Collegiate.  Chang is second on the team with a 74.22 stroke average.  She has carded four even par rounds and three under-par rounds, including one in the 60s.  Her low round was a 3-under-par 69 fired in the final round of the Cougar Classic.

The two Tar Heels, Grice and Chang, were joined on the 12-person squad by Lindy Duncan, Laetitia Beck, Celine Boutier and Alejandra Cangrejo of Duke; Augusta James and Brittany Marchand of NC State, Brittany Altomare and Briana Mao of Virginia; Jessica Negron of Florida State and Leticia Ras-Anderica of Miami.  Virginia's Brittany Altomare was voted the ACC Player of the Year while Duke's Boutier grabbed ACC Freshman of the Year honors.  Duke's Dan Brooks was selected the ACC Coach of the Year for the 13th time in his career.  The No. 11 ranked Tar Heels will play in the NCAA East Regional this Thursday through Saturday.
