Carolina Hosts The Citadel Wednesday
Release: 04/30/2013

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- No. 1 North Carolina returns home for its lone game during exam week on Wednesday when the Tar Heels host The Citadel at Boshamer Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.

The Tar Heels bring in the nation's best record at 41-4 and remain number one in the Baseball America, Perfect Game and USA Today Coaches Polls this week.

Carolina dropped its first midweek game of the year last week, 9-8 against UNC Wilmington, and rebounded with a 10-2 win over Charlotte last Wednesday improving its non-conference record to 22-1 on the year. The Tar Heels are 17-1 in midweek contests in 2013.

The Citadel comes into Wednesday's contest with a 27-18 overall mark on the year and had run off 10 straight wins before losing the series finale at Furman on Sunday.

The Bulldogs own a top 30 scoring offense entering the week as they average 6.7 runs per game.

Junior left-hander Hobbs Johnson will get the start for the Tar Heels after his scheduled start on Sunday was rained out. Johnson is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in 44 innings pitched this season.

The Bulldogs will counter with freshman right-hander Austin Livingston who is 4-0 on the year with a 5.10 ERA in 30 innings of work.

The Tar Heels will have the weekend off for the exam break before returning to action Tuesday and Wednesday (May 7-8) when they host James Madison.
