CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- No. 1 North Carolina will conclude a seven-game homestand when the Tar Heels host UNC Wilmington Tuesday and Charlotte Wednesday at 6 p.m.
The Tar Heels are coming off a home sweep of Duke over the weekend and have won 14 straight games entering the midweek contests. A win will give Carolina 40 wins on the year for the 20th time in school history and the 11th time in the last 12 years.
Junior outfielder Parks Jordan paced the Tar Heels at the plate last week with a .615 batting average as he tallied a RBI in all five games and finished with five for the week. Jordan also reached base at a .700 clip on the week.
Senior right-hander Chris Munnelly will take the bump on Tuesday for the Tar Heels as he faced UNC Wilmington for the second time this season. Munnelly dazzled in his previous start against the Seahawks on April 3 in Wilmington. Munnelly surrendered just two hits in seven scoreless innings as he struck out eight.
The Seahawks enter with a 30-11 overall mark and have won nine of their last 10 coming into Tuesday's game. UNCW moved up to 23 in the lastest Baseball America rankings.
Left-hander Christian MacDonald will take the mound on Tuesday for the Seahawks and is 4-1 on the year with a 3.08 ERA.
Wednesday will see the Tar Heels welcome in Charlotte for the lone contest between the two clubs this season. The 49ers are 23-16 in 2013 after taking two fo three games from Xavier over the weekend.
Neither team has announced a starter.
