NC State Wins Series On Walk-Off Homer
Release: 04/14/2013

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State hit a walk-off homer for the second straight game to take the 3-1 win and claim the series over No. 24 North Carolina Sunday.

UNC, now 33-15 and 10-5 in the ACC, split with NCSU on Saturday, winning a close game one, 2-1, before dropping game two, 11-8, in extra innings after NC State's first walk-off homer by Caitlin Dent.

The Tar Heels and Wolfpack had tallied just two hits apiece through a scoreless first five innings, but Kristen Brown came up big for Carolina in the top of the sixth with her seventh homer of the season out center field.

Trailing 1-0 going into the final at-bat, NC State stayed alive on a single to left by Lana Van Dyken before Kirsty Grant drew a walk. With two runners on base, Renada Davis homered out left field for NCSU's second straight three-run walk-off home run.

Lori Spingola fanned six in seven innings in the circle, surrendering five hits and three walks in the loss.
