Carolina Hosts Princeton Tuesday
Release: 03/18/2013

No. 1 North Carolina will conclude a six-game homestand on Tuesday when the Tar Heels welcome Princeton to Boshamer Stadium for a 6 p.m. contest.

The Tar Heels are coming off a second-straight ACC series win after bouncing back from their first loss of the year Friday night to claim a 14-2 win Saturday and a 4-1 win Sunday over visiting Miami.

Carolina maintained its hold on the top spot in the national polls after a 4-1 showing a week ago thanks to the series win over No. 29 Miami.

Princeton enters the week 1-10 on the year and will open a seven-game week against the Tar Heels on Tuesday.

The Tigers boast a pair of former Tar Heels on their coaching staff with head coach Scott Bradley (1979-81) and assistant coach Lloyd Brewer (1978-80). Brewer played with UNC head coach Mike Fox in Carolina's 1978 College World Series appearance.

The Tar Heels will send freshman right-hander Trent Thornton to the mound on Tuesday. Thornton enters the week with a 3-0 record and a 0.47 ERA. Princeton will counter with senior right-hander Kevin Link who is 0-1 in two starts with a 3.27 ERA.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday and fans can get two tickets for the price of one by stopping by any Cruizers convenience store.
