CHAPEL HILL - The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team will return to Fetzer Field on Saturday when it hosts 10th-ranked Georgetown at 1 p.m. The game will be the first of three home games in a week's span before the Tar Heels enter the heart of Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Carolina has won six games in a row since losing its season opener against Florida. Most recently, the Tar Heels won 15-6 at High Point on Tuesday night. That victory followed consecutive wins over Towson, Richmond, Northwestern, Penn and Virginia.
Against High Point, freshman Devin Markison and junior Brittney Coppa each scored four goals. Earlier in the week, senior Kara Cannizzaro was named the ACC's Co-Offensive Player of the Week after leading all players with four goals and five points in an 8-7 over Virginia last weekend.
Following Saturday's contest, the Tar Heels will host Cornell on Wednesday night and Boston College on Saturday night.
UNC ranks fifth in the nation in scoring defense at 6.33 goals allowed per game. Senior goalkeeper Lauren Maksym is third nationally in goals-against average at 5.75 and fourth in the country in save percentage at .531.
