MESA, Ariz. - A three-run homer by Erin Satterfield gave Carolina the 7-4 win over Binghamton on Sunday, as UNC closed out play at the Wilson/DeMarini Invitational. The Tar Heels went 4-1 over the weekend, including beating No. 20 Baylor on Friday.
The Bearcats' Bump singled to left and advanced to second when Harbaugh reached on a fielder's choice. Cadogan then doubled to left to drive in Bump to tie the game at 1-1.
Amy Nece singled on a bunt and then scored when Kelly hit a double to center, giving the Tar Heels back the lead at 2-1. The next inning, Erin Satterfield singled to right before Constance Orr hit her second homerun of the weekend over center to put UNC up 4-1.
Binghamton put up a fight in the sixth, getting three runs on three hits. McIntosh drew a walk to lead off the inning, and Kane advanced to second on a single by Cadogan while pinch running for McIntosh. Chaffee then doubled to left to drive home Kane before King doubled down the left field line to score Chaffee and Cutrona, who was pinch running for Cadogan.
With the score tied at 4-4, Tisha Mahon singled and then stole second before advancing to third on a single by Elisha Elliott. Satterfield then smashed the game-winning three-run homer to left center to secure the Tar Heels' fourth win of the weekend.
Lori Spingola (9-4) had nine strikeouts in 6.2 innings, giving up five hits and one walk.
The Tar Heels return home this week, hosting USC Upstate on Wednesday at 4 pm before their ACC-opening series with Boston College next weekend.
