Tar Heels Ready For ACC Indoors

CHAPEL HILL – The University of North Carolina track and field teams will travel to Blacksburg, Va., for the 2013 ACC Indoor Championships held at Rector Field House Thursday through Saturday.

Heading into the conference meet, 14 Tar Heels were ranked in the top five of the ACC in 15 events in addition to three relays ranked in the top five.

Patrick Schellberg is ranked fourth in both the 3,000 and the 5,000. AJ Hicks is fifth in the weight throw as Chris DiLorenzo is second in the shot put. Isaac Presson is third in the mile after inching closer to the sub-four mark at the Husky Classic. Devon Carter and Roy Smith tie for fifth place in the 60 hurdles. Joe Hutchinson is second in the heptathlon. The men's 4x400 relay is third and the men's distance medley relay is fifth.

Lianne Farber is fifth in both the mile and the 3,000. Ariel Roberts is tied for third in the high jump. Cameron Overstreet is second in the pole vault. Sarah Howard is fourth in the shot put. Briana Hudson is fourth in the triple jump. Chrishawn Williams is first in the long jump. Tory Kemp is second in the pentathlon. The women's distance medley relay is second.

Nationally, five Tar Heel women are ranked in the top 25: Williams is tied for eighth in the long jump, Hudson is 16th in the triple jump, Farber is 20th in the mile, Overstreet is tied for 19th in the pole vault, and Roberts is tied for 21st in the high jump.
