CHAPEL HILL - Several Tar Heel squads were in action this week, so check in with this week's edition of the GoHeels Weekly Primer to be sure you didn't miss any of last week's action or what's coming up this week.

On Wednesday, athletic director Bubba Cunningham released the athletic department's new strategic plan, including the mission statement "we educate and inspire through athletics" ... Adam Lucas explains how the plan already is being implemented in many ways.

MEN'S BASKETBALL:  The Tar Heels closed the week with a gutty 77-72 win at Florida State on Saturday afternoon ... Here is Adam Lucas' postgame column on birthday boy Jackson Simmons and the strong team effort ... Watch highlights of the FSU win ... Carolina started the week with a home loss on Thursday night to Miami ... Here's Lucas' take on the loss and team leader Reggie Bullock ... Prior to the Miami game, GoHeels TV put together its latest "This Week in Carolina Basketball" video segment ... Early in the week, Lucas wrote about the challenge of facing tough defenses ... WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:  The 11th-ranked Tar Heels bussed to Raleigh and beat the Wolfpack on Thursday night ... On Sunday, Carolina beat Georgia Tech 79-58 for its 10th win in a row ... UP NEXT:  Carolina hosts Virginia on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Carmichael Arena.

FOOTBALL:  Late in the week, the ACC released home and away conference opponents for the 2013 season ... Wide receiver Erik Highsmith was invited to the East-West Game ... Four early enrollees from the high school class of 2013 joined the Tar Heel program.

GYMNASTICS:  The Tar Heels won their first meet of the season on Sunday afternoon, beating George Washington ... UP NEXT:  On Sunday, Carolina will host George Washington and William & Mary at 2 p.m. in Carmichael.

WOMEN'S SOCCER:  Crystal Dunn won the Hermann Trophy as the national player of the year.

SWIMMING & DIVING:  The Tar Heel men and women swept dual meets at Navy on Saturday ... UP NEXT:  Next weekend, Carolina will visit Virginia on Satuday.

WRESTLING:  GoHeels TV sat down with head coach C.D. Mock to preview the 2013 dual meet season ... The Tar Heels traveled to Pennsylvania over the weekend for three duals ... On Saturday, Carolina swept Michigan State and Clarion ... On Sunday, UNC won its third in a row, this time over Drexel ...  UP NEXT:  Caroilna will host Virginia (Friday night at 7 p.m) and Virginia Tech (Saturday at 2:30 p.m.) in Carmichael.
