GREENSBORO, N.C. --- North Carolina freshman forward Xylina McDaniel has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office and voted on by the Blue Ribbon Panel.
McDaniel earned her league-leading fourth ACC Rookie of the Week honor of the season after averaging 10.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in North Carolina's 2-0 week, which included a win over No. 8 Maryland. Against Maryland, she helped hold the Terps to an ACC season low 57 points and a 31.9 field goal percentage. She led the Tar Heels with a team-high 14 points, eight rebounds and five steals in a 48-45 win against Virginia Tech.
McDaniel and the Tar Heels are back in action Thursday when they face NC State in Raleigh at 7 p.m.
