Grice Grabs Amateur Win In Texas

McKINNEY, TEXAS - University of North Carolina golfer Casey Grice won the Craig Ranch Intercollegiate this week, a part of the Texas Collegiate Amateur Tour.  Grice fired at 2-under-par 214 total and finished two strokes ahead of Susy Grunden, a senior at Texas A&M.

Grice, a junior from College Station, Texas, fired a 3-under 69 in the final round which included an eagle-3 on the par-5, 480-yard fifth hole.  Her final also included five birdies and four bogeys.  She fired a 1-under 71 in the second round and a 2-over 74 in the first round.  The 54-hole event was played Dec. 17-18 at TPC Craig Ranch which featured a par 72, 5,924-yard layout.

Grice led the Tar Heels during the fall campaign with a 72.67 stroke average.  She carded top-20 finishes in all four of Carolina's events, her top outing was a runner-up finish at the Liz Murphey Fall Preview where she led Carolina to the team title as well.  She also helped lead the Tar Heels win their final tournament of the fall campaign, where she tied for seventh place at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.  In the first two events of the fall, Grice tied for 13th at the Mason Rudolph Championship and tied for 14th at the Cougar Classic.
