CHAPEL HILL - It was the last week of fall semester final exams at UNC, which meant fewer athletic events for the Tar Heels, but there is still plenty to catch up on in Carolina athletics with the GoHeels Weekly Primer.

BASEBALL:  Junior Kent Emanuel grabbed preseason All-America honors.

MEN'S BASKETBALL:  In its only game of the week, the Tar Heels welcomed alumnus Jeff Lebo and his East Carolina team back to the Smith Center on Saturday, beating the Pirates, 93-87 ... Here's Adam Lucas' take on the win ... Earlier in the week, Lucas wrote about the team's holiday shopping excursion and the Toys for Tots collection at last week's ETSU game ... Lucas also questioned the omission of Ty Lawson from the NCAA's candidates for best players in NCAA Tournament history ... GoHeels TV recapped the week with This Week in Carolina Basketball ... Megan Walsh wrote a column on freshman Brice Johnson last Monday ... UP NEXT:  Carolina will play at Texas on Wednesday night, then host McNeese State on Saturday in the Smith Center.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:  The Tar Heels stifled NC Central, 49-21, on Wednesday in the lowest-scoring game in program history ... On Sunday, the Tar Heels beat Coastal Carolina, 75-49, in Conway, S.C. ... UP NEXT:  Carolina will face East Carolina on Wednesday night in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

FOOTBALL:  The week's big news was Giovani Bernard's decision to enter the NFL Draft, which Adam Lucas put into perspective ... Earlier, Bernard and Jonathan Cooper earned AP All-America honors.

MEN'S SOCCER:  Seniors Jordan Gafa and Scott Goodwin received invitations to the MLS Player Combine ... Three Tar Heels, including Goodwin, earned All-America honors.

WOMEN'S SOCCER:  Crystal Dunn won the Honda Sports Award for soccer as the national player of the year.

WRESTLING:  Carolina moved into the national top 25 for the first time since November of 2003 ... UP NEXT:  The Midlands Championships in Evanston, Ill., on Dec. 29-30.
