Sophomore O'Neal Wanliss was featured on the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication student-run sports show, SportsXtra, in November for his non-profit S.P.I.K.E.S. for Tykes. The full show can be viewed here.
The charity collects gently-used spikes and donates them to young athletes in Jamaica at primary and secondary schools as well as acts as a peer mentoring program. He was honored as a Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd for his work with the organization.
Wanliss was a 2012 NCAA qualifier who made it to the NCAA Outdoor National Championships as a member of the men's 4x400 relay. He was also a member of the ACC Champion indoor 4x400 relay.
