Four Tar Heels were ranked among the top 20 in the country in their respective weight classes this week by InterMat.
Carolina has a pair of freshmen and a pair of sophomores in the rankings with freshman Nathan Kraisser leading the group at No. 14 this week at 125 pounds.
Kraisser is 11-2 in his first year as a Tar Heel with two major decisions and three pins.
Sophomore Evan Henderson checks in at No. 17 this week thanks to a 13-1 mark on the year at 141 pounds. Henderson has won his last 10 bouts entering the weekend. Henderson has posted four major decisions to go along with three tech falls and three pins in 2012.
Sophomore Alex Utley is ranked No. 19 this week at 184 pounds with his 9-3 record on the year. Utley has earned a major decision and three pins this season.
Freshman Joey Ward moved into the rankings this week thanks to a 10-2 record at 133 pounds. Ward has helped the Tar Heels get out to early leads in all of its duals with a 3-0 dual mark and has posted two major decisions early on.
Up next for the Tar Heels is a trip to State College, Pa. for the Nittany Lion Open on Sunday, Dec. 2.
